All of us deserve a chance to make a living

When I was a young girl growing up in a small, rural town in Central Louisiana, I watched a vocational school come to life in my late brother’s namesake through my mother’s hard work. The year was 1984 and since then the school’s teachers, deans, and donors have helped countless adults achieve new skills allowing them to go to work in the area and support themselves and their families. The students and graduates are inspirational. Their stories will move you and showcase the value of a successful adult education institution.

The school operates in the same building today but it is now a part of the Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) as the Rod Brady Campus in Jena, Louisiana. In 2018, the Rod Brady Campus was selected as part of the Country Music Television’s Empowering Education tour. I was fortunate enough to attend and as I worked in the background, I could not help but be inspired.

The turning point on that day was listening to Rod Brady Alumna Stephanie Knight’s story and how the school was her bedrock to overcome great challenges. She not only became an LPN and started working, but she also served her community while she focused on her goals and aspirations to become a Nurse Practitioner. Her fortitude is the reason you are reading this.  I walked away knowing it was time for me to get more involved in adult education, as I had always dreamt about.

It was in honor of my late brother, Rod Brady, and students like Stephanie Knight, that I launched the Adult Education Foundation in 2019.

Our mission is to fund the right learning opportunities for adults to make a living in disadvantaged education and poverty-stricken areas in the United States.

To support our mission, we provide scholarships to adult learners and funding to approved adult education programs and institutions. Additionally, we establish partnerships with businesses to develop a workforce that responds to the needs of business and industry in America’s most poverty-stricken areas.

My wish is that you will lend your support towards our endeavor to empower courageous adults to learn the skills they need to make a living and write their own future.

Thank you,

Charlane R Brady , Founder
